Hope you can view these 4 plays (all in 1 clip)!

First Game of the Season

Today Morgan & I went to Valley City for the first game of Jordan's senior year. It was terribly hot (90 degrees) and even though we used a ton of sunscreen we both ended up a little burned.

Here is Jordan making a 2 point conversion putting the score at 14 - 7
This was another nice play...sorry, I don't know how many yards they gained.
The following 3 pics are all in order - another great play!

Morgan was busy video taping while I took the still shots. We had a lot of fun.
The best part was that Valley City beat Moorhead State 30 - 29!!

Coming into the game, the perception from most observers was that VCSU looked to be the underdog going against DII and NSIC member Moorhead St. The Vikings quickly changed that perception by driving 75 yards in nine plays to take an early 6-0 lead. The drive was capped by a 5 yard strike from Beilke to Calhoun in what would be their first of three such connections.
MSUM answered to close the first quarter with six play 62 yard drive ending with an Enol Giles touchdown dive. The score gave MSUM a short lived 7-6 lead.Beilke and Calhoun would hook up on a 78 yard scoring play early in the second quarter to give the Vikings back the lead. After a two point conversion by Jordan Fylling the score stood at VCSU 14 – MSUM 7. VCSU extended the lead to 20-7 when Michael Webber intercepted a Craig Kutz pass and returned it 37 yards for the score. An MSUM touchdown run by Eric Ames and a VCSU field goal by Marineo Toslluku wrapped up the scoring in the first half and gave VCSU a 23-14 halftime cushion.
The Dragons controlled most of the second half as the Vikings struggled to get anything going of offense. MSUM scored two touchdowns and converted on a two point try to take a 29-23 lead at the six minute mark in the fourth quarter. With 6:00 minutes to go the Vikings took over and mounted what would prove to be the game winning drive. Beilke and Calhoun connected four times on the drive including a crucial fourth down conversion at the MSUM 18 yard line. On third and two Beilke once again called Calhoun's number as he lofted a fade to the back corner of the end zone, Calhoun then leaped over his defender securing the go ahead score with 2:12 on the clock.
MSUM would threaten in the closing seconds but their 39 yard field goal attempt was kicked into the line and blocked. The win puts the Vikings at 1-0.
They will take next week off before traveling to Peru, NE to take on Peru State in non-conference action.

Water Fun Weekends

We have been having fun boating, tubing & wakeboarding the past few weekends. Here are a few highlights....
Today Austin, Abby, Andrew, Morgan & Emily swam almost the entire length of Hoot Lake. I followed along in the pontoon to give Abby a breather here & there and to make sure no other boaters got too close. They all used some sort of a floatation device (boogie board, noodle chair or life jacket). They swam for well over an hour and said their legs felt like jello when they finally got back to the Borowski's dock. They burned off so many calories that we had to make a run to the Dairy Queen before supper.
Yesterday (Saturday) was a beautiful sunny day. We started out the day with a little tubing.
Yes, your eyes do not deceive you...that is Grandma Pat riding on Super Mable!

Abby, Grandma & Morgan had a fun ride.
Wes was driving the boat and was able to get quite a few squeals from the "girls".
Later Austin, Abby & Andrew took a turn on Mable.
Uncle Wes gave them a little wilder ride (at Abby's request)
Eventually Andrew flew off, Austin jumped in, and Abby got a bit
wet when she thought she could "surf" on Mable while Wes went back to
pick up the boys.
After the tubing came a little kneeboarding.

Morgan had never tried it before and got up right away.

Good job, Morgan!

Heather was good to give pointers on both the kneeboard and wakeboard.

Here is Abz strapping in her knees.

Abby got up on her first try and rode all over the lake. Way to go, Abz!!

Next we tried a little wakeboarding. Here is Austin all set to go.

The picture isn't very good but you can see Austin just getting out of the water. He did great for his first time. You can probably see that his life jacket was a bit loose. We will have better fitting equipment for him tomorrow when we go out again so he it won't hinder his efforts.

Heather can get out of the water right away when she is on the wakeboard. She has been good to give the guys "pointers" on how it is done.

Last weekend Jordan tried it for the first time. Once you finally get up and out of the water that first time you get a "feel" for how it is done and it is much easier from then on.

Of course Jordan wasn't content with just getting up. He attempted some serious jumps of the wake. These came with some serious wipe outs. (He did get a little air...at least once.)

Jordan talked his sister into going for a tube ride with him.

It got a bit wild.

The big wipe out happened soon after this picture.

I finally decided that my poor old broken foot had healed long enough (note the lovely shoe) and that I had waited long enough for a ride on Mable. Sheila & I rode until we were Wii sick (seasick). (If you know us you will know that this didn't take long at all. We get motion sickness from cars, boats, amusement parks & playing Mario Kart on the Wii!!)

Emily & Morgan have the best time riding on Super Mable.

After a particularly harrowing ride last weekend, along with Heather, (Jordan was driving the boat) they all decided that they would never, NEVER, let Jordan drive them again.

I guess I don't need to tell you how that ride ended up!!

Hurry up and come for a visit....summer is fading & Mable is waiting!!

(We promise we won't let Jordan drive!)
